Esnna Code

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism has implemented a policy to combat the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents, known by its Spanish acronym ESNNA. Cusco Peru Travel and the ESNNA code have joined forces through a collaborative agreement to prevent and eliminate this issue.

The ESNNA Program and Our Commitment

This program, part of the social development and protection of vulnerable populations policy, is a broad and complex initiative led by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).

The program’s objective is to raise awareness and provide training throughout our country’s tourism sector to prevent and ultimately eliminate the sexual exploitation of minors. We recently obtained CALTUR Certification – Level 2, also from Mincetur, showcasing our alignment with the government’s most stringent regulations for optimal tourism quality.

In the case of authorized and certified tourism agencies like CUSCO TU DESTINO TRAVEL, the ESNNA program requires adherence to a Code of Conduct, subscribed with Mincetur. This code mandates the dissemination of information about the initiative, its rules, and objectives, as well as proper training for staff and providers. The company commits to operating in accordance with all the requirements of the Code.

Regrettably, child trafficking is a significant issue in Peru, but efforts are being made to combat it. Through ethically responsible tourism, Cusco Peru Travel contributes to development, economic activity, and improved living standards in the visited destinations. Our commitment to the ESNNA program actively contributes to reducing and eradicating the sexual exploitation of minors.

Concrete Actions – ESNNA Code

Adherence to the ESNNA program’s Code of Conduct commits us to consistently implement a series of actions as part of our activities.

Our office personnel and logistics staff (guides, cooks, drivers, porters) are already adequately trained to contribute to the Code of Conduct. We do not, under any circumstances, offer or entertain requests related to child or adolescent sexual tourism for both ethical and legal reasons.

Similarly, we work collaboratively with our partners (hotels, restaurants, etc., and all their staff) to ensure the objectives and commitments of the ESNNA program are met in all sectors and stages of the tourism services we provide.

Everyone at CUSCO TU DESTINO TRAVEL and our partners in operations is committed to enforcing the ESNNA Code of Conduct and reporting to authorities when necessary.

The actions outlined in the ESNNA code and Cusco Peru Travel take precedence within our social responsibility policies. We aim to ensure that tourism brings only benefits to the region and the country, aligning with our corporate mission, vision, and values.
